Chasing Rabbit

[i]Julian raised the bat and a second later a loud boom is heard. He took off to the first base,[u]

Devin shoots after the ball faster than a speeding bullet, and then runs after Julian. He's about a second to late, and the whole round only took roughly 3 seconds. "Dang, you're fast."

"Yeah, pretty much." Devin said, now not too far from the cave. He was picking up another bat he had made. The last one lay in splinters. "We'd get noticed pretty easy."

"Yeah." Julian went over and picked up the ball. He drew a deep breath and closed his eyes. A few short seconds later he quickly throwing it in Devin's direction.

"Whato" Devin whips around, the bat in his hand, and smacks the ball with all his might. The bat tip flies a few hundred feet away, and he starts to run for the first oak, then the second.

While Devin was showing off Julian had caught him by touching him with the ball. "You shouldn't show off."

"Why not? C'mon, one of my only chances to be a vampire and you gotta' ruin the fun." Devin takes the ball. But a strike of lightning hits one of the trees with a breaking CRACK, and the tree bursts into flames. "And that ruins the fun too."

"Yes I see that it does." Julian blinked.

"Dont you think we need to do something with the flame?"

"You have any clever ideas?" Devin moves into the cave, and from under all his clothing, from the belt on his pants hidden by his shirt, part of his disguise, he pulls out a cellphone. He calls the fire department. "Looks like we should go before we're found."

"Yeah." Julian tosses the ball to Devin. "And that shouldn't be found either."

Devin moves quickly to his side. "Be careful. Things could go VERY wrong. And tell her to stop thinking that." Devin is by the mouth of the cave a second later. "Outskirts right?"

"er, yea...so we're leaving the tree like that?"

"Wait I can take her...and yes we are. Its better if we leave no traces."

"I called the fire department. I can't put it out anyway." Devin says, sitting motionless where he is. "And of course Julian." Devin nods, and after a second of hesitation as he thinks of what this could do, he is gone.

"Bye Devin. You ready?" Julian too was at the cave mouth.

"I guess so.."

"Come on."

she get ready to run, even though she doesnt think she cant follow the speed of what vampires have.

"If you run no way we'll get out in time. Climb on my back." Julian had heard a fire truck about 3 miles away.

"Climb? I'm heavier that I look, will that change your decision?"

Julian smiled. "No we are quite strong." Julian peered at the two bats that were now in splinters.
